Duty: Since 1 July 2026 the EU no longer waives duty on goods up to €150. Goods sold online up to €150 pay a flat €3 per item category, plus VAT.

Additional Information

Austria is an EU member, so import VAT (20%) and EU customs rules apply. As Austria uses the Euro, any duty or VAT the recipient pays will be in EUR. Provide a reachable Austrian phone number for the recipient; customs or the courier might contact them if any import fees are due or if an ID verification is needed for certain goods.

Prohibited items: In addition to standard EU bans, Austria specifically prohibits any cannabis or hemp products, including those containing CBD or trace THC. Don't send e-cigarettes or vaping liquids with nicotine either, as these face import restrictions. Agricultural items are sensitive: Austria bans imports of many plants, seeds, and soil without permits. Austria restricts some common pharmaceuticals pain relievers (like aspirin) and supplements such as melatonin cannot be imported without authorization. If you need to send over-the-counter medicines to Austria, check with us first, as they may be stopped by customs. War memorabilia or military items are also largely prohibited (except for official use).

What to expect with GLS home delivery, pickup windows, and contact options for parcels inside Austria.

Home delivery window

GLS delivers parcels across Austria Monday to Friday during business hours, per the GLS Group FAQ for recipients.
If you are not home at the time of delivery, GLS will first try a neighbour; if that is not possible, they typically take the parcel to a nearby GLS ParcelShop or GLS ParcelLocker for collection.
ParcelShop and ParcelLocker handoff is the default fallback when no neighbour can receive the parcel, keeping it close for pickup.
Pickup timing: GLS notes parcels are usually available for pickup the next day after the delivery attempt.
How long they hold it: parcels can be collected for up to 8 working days, or up to 3 working days if they are placed in a ParcelLocker.

Notifications & redirect options

Notification card: GLS leaves a card that shows where the parcel is (neighbour, ParcelShop address, or ParcelLocker) and includes your Track ID for tracking.
If you already know you will not be home, GLS receiving-parcels services let you redirect to a pickup location before the first attempt.

How local delivery tracking works (rarely needed)

Once your parcel reaches Austria and is handed to GLS (the local final-mile carrier), a local courier tracking ID may be generated. This local ID is automatically linked to your Polimark tracking behind the scenes.

Most customers never need to use this local tracking ID.
Polimark remains your primary point of contact for tracking updates and delivery questions.

When would I need the local tracking ID?

Only in uncommon situations, for example:

A recipient wants to manually change a delivery date
A pickup point selection needs to be adjusted directly with the local carrier
