What you need to know before shipping to European destinations

Duties & VAT (EU only)

When you ship a parcel from Canada to an EU country, it must clear customs on arrival. Import VAT applies to virtually all goods regardless of value and is charged at the destination country's VAT rate.

Gifts: Private-to-private gifts up to €45 can be relieved from import charges, provided they meet the gift conditions (see EU Taxation and Customs Union).

Important: Customs duty is currently waived for goods with an intrinsic value up to €150, but that's changing: the EU has agreed to remove the €150 duty-free threshold from 1 July 2026.

Prohibited & Restricted Items

Common EU rules prohibit:

Weapons, firearms, ammunition, and most weapon-like items
Illegal drugs and controlled substances (including cannabis products)
Perishables and food of animal origin (meat, dairy), and many plant items/seeds without permits
Explosives, flammables, and hazardous materials (including some batteries/chemicals)
Cash and high-risk valuables (cash, bullion; some carriers/countries also restrict jewelry)
Counterfeit goods and items that infringe trademarks/copyright
Any illegal or hate/extremist materials (country laws apply)

Packaging & Documentation

You can generally ship everyday personal goods (clothing, books, electronics, gifts) as long as they're permitted and correctly declared.

Packaging: Pack items securely in a sturdy box with padding so the parcel can withstand handling and potential inspection.

Customs Forms: We provide customs forms you can fill out here. We'll need clear item descriptions and accurate values. This is the biggest factor in avoiding delays and surprise clearance issues.

Note: EU customs may contact the recipient to pay VAT/duty or request clarification.

We use a simple, Canada-wide intake process. After arranging your shipment, you drop your parcel at any Canada Post location. Once received at our depot, we handle international forwarding, customs processing, and final delivery to Europe. Tracking is provided from our depot to the destination.

Yes. Tracking is included with every shipment at no additional cost. You can monitor your parcel's progress from our depot through international transit and final delivery in Europe.

How do I pay for my shipment?

After confirming your shipment details, we send a secure payment link via Clover. Once payment is completed, your shipment is prepared for intake and processing.

What is the QR code used for?

After payment, you'll receive a QR code that Canada Post scans when you drop off your parcel. This ensures your shipment is correctly routed to our depot for international forwarding.

What happens if my parcel is lost or damaged?

We offer optional shipment coverage based on the declared value of your parcel. Compensation is limited to the declared value and any coverage selected. While parcels going missing or being damaged is rare, we take these situations seriously and investigate every claim with our carrier partners.
