VAT & Duties (EU)

VAT Rate: 20%

Gift Threshold: Up to €45 (private-to-private gifts)

Duty-Free Threshold: Up to €150 ⚠️ EU duty-free threshold changes to €0 on July 1, 2026

Additional Information

Bulgaria is in the EU (VAT 20%) and follows EU import rules. As an EU country, Bulgaria uses the €150 duty exemption (ending 2026). Bulgarian customs might be slower than Western EU, so allow a bit more time for clearance. Bulgaria's addressing can be less standardized (sometimes no street names in villages); make sure the address is complete. Delivery can take a bit longer for rural areas. Possibly up to 7–10 days. Provide the recipient's phone, as couriers will often call before delivery (especially outside cities).

Prohibited items: Cultural artifacts (icons, antiques, historical items) are sensitive in Bulgaria. Exporting such items from Bulgaria requires permits, and similarly importing any art or antiquity might draw scrutiny. If you're sending artwork or collector's items, ensure you have provenance documents.

Bulgaria is an EU member state. For complete EU shipping guidelines, prohibited items, and packaging requirements, view our EU Shipping Guide .

We do not ship alcohol, tobacco, prescription medicines, cannabis, or similar restricted goods. Bulgaria-specific prohibited items and controls should be confirmed before shipping.

Delivery & Pickup in Bulgaria (GLS via Interlogistica)

GLS parcels in Bulgaria are handled by Interlogistica Courier Ltd. (GLS partner).

Delivery pattern

  • One delivery attempt to the recipient address; GLS parcels are delivered via Interlogistica across Bulgaria.
  • If delivery fails, the parcel moves to a nearby delivery/pickup point (or to a warehouse if bulky).
  • Recipients receive an SMS with pickup point location, phone number, and working hours once the parcel is staged.
  • Return window: if not collected within 9 business days, the parcel is returned to sender in Europe.

Pickup options

Interlogistica lists pickup partners and offices with addresses, hours, and phone numbers.

Need help with tracking or delivery?

Your Polimark tracking number works from Canada all the way through final delivery. In most cases, this is the only tracking number you'll ever need.

How local delivery tracking works (rarely needed)

Once your parcel reaches Bulgaria and is handed to Interlogistica (the local final-mile carrier for GLS), a local courier tracking ID may be generated. This local ID is automatically linked to your Polimark tracking behind the scenes.

  • Most customers never need to use this local tracking ID.
  • Polimark remains your primary point of contact for tracking updates and delivery questions.

When would I need the local tracking ID?

Only in uncommon situations, for example:

  • A recipient wants to manually change a delivery date
  • A pickup point selection needs to be adjusted directly with the local carrier

If that ever happens, just contact us and we'll provide the local tracking ID for you.
