Ship parcels to Italy

Italy (EU, VAT 22%) is notable for its very stringent import restrictions. Italian customs has a reputation for strictness and a very long list of prohibited items.

Prohibited items: In addition to all standard EU bans, Italy restricts many goods by mail. Categories like footwear, leather goods, apparel, and textiles are on the prohibited list, but small personal quantities for your own use (e.g., moving shipments or limited personal effects) are generally acceptable. Italy also bans perfumes (alcohol content), many cosmetics, and toys/games containing copper sulfate. Foodstuffs of almost any kind are prohibited (no pasta or olive oil by mail). Jewelry and precious metals are not allowed, for security and customs reasons. Personal effects are technically controlled, but small personal-use parcels (up to ~30 kg) are typically fine; declare clearly. Stick to personal items or new consumer goods (electronics, books, documents) and avoid anything on Italy's extensive forbidden list. Check with us if unsure.

Customs and duties: Italy follows EU duty rules (€150 threshold for now, ending 2026). For gifts, €45 rule applies, but note that even as a gift, banned items (like say a leather bag) are still banned. Italian customs can be slow; expect that clearance might take a couple of days. Recipients in Italy might be required to provide a Codice Fiscale (tax code) for high-value imports or electronics due to Italian customs regulations. If so, the courier will contact them.

Delivery: Italian addresses often include a postcode (5 digits) and the town's province code (e.g. "00155 Roma (RM)"). Make sure that is correct to avoid misrouting. August holiday season and year-end holidays can slow things down in Italy. We advise patience and will assist in tracking Italian shipments closely.

Service area: We ship mainland Italy only; islands are not served. Shipments to Sicily may be accommodated on request and may incur a surcharge—please contact us in advance.
